You Tube was founded in 2005 and is the leader in online video and the premier site to watch and share videos worldwide. Now, you can produce your own training or promotional videos and have them available to millions of people in just minutes.
Visit http://www.youtube.com/ and take a look at what people are putting up on the site. You can search by topic, for example mlm or network marketing or home business or The 2% Plan (my new lead generation system) and see how many videos are up under that topic.
Your first step is to record a video. Determine what topic you are going to cover and then write a script or some notes. You could do the video yourself or have someone interview you or have a discussion with another person. Next, you’ll need a digital video camera that will allow you to upload the video clip to your computer. If you don’t have a camera, we recommend Flip Video (http://www.theflip.com/) which you can buy online or at local retailers. You’ll also find them on E-bay.
Here are some video strategies from Andy Jenkins, owner of StomperNet and also an Oscar winner: Shoot your video in three parts:
Part One – establish a problem the viewer is dealing with. Then begin by telling a story that leads the viewer to a powerful solution. Make the story personal and provide a testimony of fixing the problem and if possible show them the financial or physical result.
Part Two – go over the personal benefits of your solution (in other words, what’s in it for the viewer). Give them bullet points from actual experience. Cover the how and why this will work for them. Generate a high level of interest by reminding them that they can do it. Then walk them through the simple steps to success.
Part Three – conclude with an urgent call to action. Tell your viewer exactly what they should do next. Reiterate the problem, solution, and benefits. Help your viewer envision themselves after achieving success and you’ve got yourself a hot candidate.
Make sure the video is no longer than 10 minutes or you won’t be able to upload it on to You Tube. If it must be longer than 10 minutes, break it up into multiple parts and load the videos separately. As you are filming, look directly into the camera, relax, and have fun. Video is a great way to meet your prospects face-to-face and make a great first impression.
Once you have a completed video, you can also load it on other social networking sites, such as Plaxo, MySpace, Bebo, and MetaCafe. If you are really serious about this and your budget allows, you can use Traffic Geyser (http://www.trafficgeyser.com/) to submit your videos to social networking, social bookmarking, and search engine sites. The service is only $97 a month and will save you many hours.
So, if you’ve always wanted to be in the movies, this is your chance and use it to build a massive network marketing business that will provide you with the lifestyle of your dreams.

New Network Marketing Videos
I just shot three new network marketing training videos. They're FREE and you can view them by clicking HERE.
Decisions . . . Decisions . . . Decisions . . .
I joined my first network marketing company in 1979 when there were only a handful of companies. The only solid method of marketing was home meetings or one-on-one napkin presentations. We didn't have the internet, CD's, DVD's, cell phones, voice mail, e-mail, teleconferences, web conferences, flash presentations, video cameras, web cams, or mp3 players. Choices were pretty easy back then, because there wasn't much to choose from.
Today it's much different. There are so many methods of marketing and mutiple choices within each method - do you market to your warm market by phone, e-mail, mail, CD, DVD, opportunity meeting, web conference, teleconference, etc. etc. If you are marketing on the internet do you use pay-per-click, ezines, classifieds, funded business proposals, social networking sites, forums, etc. etc. AND so on. And so on. It's tough and I feel bad for all those who are just joining the network marketing industry.
Here are some keys that might help you.
First, always check with successful upline leaders to see what they are doing. If the methods they are using fit your personality, time commitment, and budget, then duplicate. If not, then move on.
Second, decide on a single marketing method for your warm market (people you know) and no more than 2 or 3 internet marketing methods.
Third, stay focused on those methods for at least 3 months to determine their success rate. The biggest mistake you can make is to use different methods every month. Find something and get good at it.
During my early years in network marketing, I was always looking for the magic bullet - that perfect thing that would make me a millionaire. I did discover it - consistent, and persistent effort in prospecting, presenting, and follow-up.
So, find something that works for your personality, schedule, and budget; then stick with it, making slight modifications for improvement and you will begin to see greater and greater success.
*Note: I just recently introduced a marketing system that works great for any personality, schedule, and budget. It's rejection proof, you don't have to approach people until they say they are interested, and you can get paid to generate an endless supply of leads for your network marketing business. Check it out at www.the2percentplan.com/plus and get lot's of free stuff.

Just Do It!
Nike made the phrase popular and it is perfect for network marketing. Having been in the industry for over 29 years, I've had a chance to work with tens of thousands of network marketers and have found there are many reasons why people fail, but the consistent number one is lack of productive action.
To build a large and lucrative network marketing business, you need to do X things:
1. Learn - gain knowledge about your company, products/services, and compensation plan. You don't have to know everything, but at least know where to get the answers.
2. Prospect - talk with people about your business. There many great methods for prospecting. Make sure you talk with your upline leaders about how they are doing it. The key here is to think of your business like a funnel. You place a lot of new prospects in the top (which is wide) and a few come out the bottom (which is narrow). The more you put in, the more will come out.
3. Sponsor - the key here is to sponsor people correctly. Most network marketing businesses have a starter kit that costs under $50. This is the cost to join a company. However, if you are working with a legitimate product company, you will want your new recruits to understand the products and that requires them to use them. So, typically there is a starter product pack that you should recommend. Also, they will need a web site and marketing materials, so make sure you include all those things in their starter pack. If you start people out right, they have a much better chance of success. You should also work with your upline leaders to set goals for the number of new people you will sponsor monthly. In the beginning, you should invest 90% of your time to prospecting and sponsoring. Once you've built a good size network with a number of solid leaders, who are building on their own, then you can back off a bit, but you should never go below 50% of your time dedicated to prospecting and sponsoring.
4. Train - poor or lack of training is another primary reason for failure in network marketing, so make sure that your new recruits get good training. Check with your company and upline to see what is already offered. For the first 30 days, you should stay very close to your new recruit. Your goal should be to help them recruit at least a couple new people in their first month and to get them earning $500 a month as quickly as possible. If a person is making $500 a month, they will stick. Offer yourself for personal meetings and 3-way calls with prospects. Then help your new recruits train their new recruits.
5. Support - once your downline members are up and running on their own, continue to support them through encouragement, contests, advanced training, gatherings - meetings/teleconferences, etc. Your job is to build a cohesive team that is all striving toward success together. TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More.
Determine how much time you can commit to your business every week and then do these five things. If you do this consistently, you will be successful and enjoy the fruits of your labor - time and financial freedom.

5 Ways to Work Your Warm Market
As every network marketer knows, the best place to build a business is in the warm market. You know them; have rapport with them, and possibly a high level of mutual respect. The close ratio is at least triple that of the cold market.
Here are 5 ways that you can use to contact your warm market without jeopardizing your relationships:
1. In-home Business Briefing
This is the quickest and most effective way to build a network marketing business. People have been building large networks using in-home briefings for over fifty years. To conduct an in-home, you will need a place in your home where you can comfortably seat the number of people you would like to attend.
You will also want to have a TV and DVD player, plus a place where you can display products (if your business is product-based).
The key to an in-home is to make it appear duplicable. You want the people attending to see a way that they too can do the business. So, the best way to do an in-home is to tell your story (how you discovered your company and got involved).
Next, play a DVD that tells about the company, products, and the compensation plan. If you have a product-based business you might add a demonstration or give your prospects samples.
Take time to answer questions and then ask for those who want to order the products or become distributors to stay around to complete the paperwork. (See the complete in-home script later in this section)
The first step is to establish a day and time for your in-home. Second, make up a list of people you want to invite. Third, practice the inviting script that follows until you feel comfortable making the calls. Fourth, call your prospects and invite them. Invite twice as many as you would like to actually show-up, as 50% will say no when you call and 50% of those who swear they are coming will not.
It¹s a very good idea to work with your sponsor or an upline leader on an inviting script. Also, practice dealing with possible comments like "What¹s this all about?" or "Is this network marketing or multi-level marketing?" or "Is this Amway?" or "I¹m too busy to add anything else." or "I¹m busy that night."
If you are not comfortable doing the business briefing, invite your sponsor or an upline leader to help out. If they are not available, just tell your story (how you got involved, why you are excited about the company, and what you are expecting as benefits), play a company video, and answer questions. If you have upline leaders who are long-distance to you, arrange to have one of them available toward the end of your briefing. Call the leader and put him/her on a speakerphone for all your guests to hear. Your leader will do the final close.
2. Information Approach
Many a new distributor has been concerned about contacting their warm market, because they didn¹t want their friends and family feeling like they were selling them something. The information approach is a great answer.
Let¹s say you had opened a restaurant. Would you keep it a secret from your friends and family? Most likely you would call, tell them all about the restaurant, and invite them to come down and eat. Use this same approach with your network marketing business. Instead of calling them with the idea of sponsoring or selling them products, instead approach purely with the idea of informing them about your business.
Call up your warm market, tell them about your business, and invite them to take a look if they want. If they are not interested, don¹t pressure. Always let them know that it isn¹t important to you that they join or buy products, but rather that they take the time to look at the information and understand your business. If they are interested in getting more involved that¹s great too, you would love to work with them.
3. Opinion Approach
If you have people in your warm market who are somewhat intimidating due to their level of success, then this is the approach to use. Everyone loves to give their opinion, so you will rarely find people in your warm market that will reject this approach.
Contact your warm market candidate and say something like this, "Hi John, this is Bill, how are things? (continue after a little natural chit-chat) The reason for my call is to ask your help. I have just started a new business that has me more excited than anything I have ever done. The potential is incredible, if I do this right. That¹s where I need your help. I’ve always valued your business experience and knowledge. Would you be willing to take about an hour of your valuable time and review this business for me? I’d like to know how you would build the business, if it were yours. I¹m also going to be looking for some strong partners, so as you are reviewing the business; I¹d like you to think of anyone who might fit. Will you do that for me?”
If they say yes, get them an information packet including printed materials, a DVD, CD, web site address, teleconference or web conference, etc. In the packet, remind them that you would like them to give their opinion on how to do the business and who might make good partners. That way you won’t get a bunch of their negative misconceptions.
This is also a great approach for young network marketers to use with parents and older business contacts.
4. Introductory Letters
Many network marketers have large warm markets, numbering into the thousands. It would take far too long to call and arrange to meet each one. Particularly since many of them may be out of state. So, a good, quick answer is an introductory letter. The key here is that if you don¹t let your warm market know that you are involved in network marketing with your company, someone else will and the next thing you know, you¹ll be getting an introductory letter or phone call from your best friend, mother, father, sister, or brother.
An introductory letter should be limited to one page. People are busy and they already get too much mail. Make it easy on them.
In the letter you want to let them know that you have started a new business with a network marketing company and give the name. Explain that you had some reservations about being involved in network marketing until you discovered the tremendous potential to develop long-term, walk-away, residual income. Let them know that you are working your business part-time (10 to 15 hours a week) and that your support team has supplied excellent training and marketing programs.
Inform them of the tremendous benefits tax deductions, time freedom, control over your financial destiny, helping others improve their lives, self-improvement, etc. Let them know that the up-front investment is low, as is the risk. There is no need for an office (outside the home), inventory, employees, or sophisticated bookkeeping systems.
Tell them that you would enjoy working with them toward the ultimate goal of financial and time freedom. Explain that you do not want them to feel pressured, so you will not follow-up on this letter. If they would like to know more, they can call (a hotline, conference call, or your voice mailbox with a 2-minute informational message) or visit your web site and provide the URL.
5. Product Demonstration
If your company is product-based, another great way to build a business in your warm market is to do product demonstrations. This falls back to the old and very successful party-plan concept. Companies like Tupperware and Discovery Toys have built mammoth businesses using this approach.
First, arrange a day and time for the demonstration. Determine whom you are going to invite and send out invitations. Indicate that you will be serving light refreshments at the demonstration. I would suggest coffee, water, punch, and cookies or light finger pastries.
Remember to invite twice as many people as you want to come. If you want to improve your attendance, do a follow-up call a few days before the event.
Start your demonstration on time. Tell your story about how you found the company, why you are excited about the products, and a brief overview of the company. Next, give them some logical justification for why they would want to purchase the products from the company and you superior products, convenience, monetary savings, etc.
Now, begin through the key products describe them and their benefits to the attendees. If you can sample the products, do so during the demonstration. After covering each product ask if there are any questions. Answer those before moving on to the next product. Limit the number of products so you can keep the whole demonstration to an hour to an hour and a half. When you have completed all the products, again ask if there are any questions.
After answering questions, offer a special product package or special pricing on the products demonstrated, if they purchase or order at the demonstration. Take orders with payment.
Then indicate that there is also a way that they could make money, if interested, they should ask you after the demonstration (show them the business opportunity). Also, that they could earn free products by allowing you to come in and do a demonstration in their home (offer them 10% of the profits from the demonstration, in the form of products). Try to book at least one demonstration from each one that you do. Make sure that everyone walks away with literature.
Demonstrations are a soft way of building a business. It¹s slower, so keep that in mind if you are anxious to replace your current income and gain more time freedom.
If you cultivate your warm market properly, you may never have to enter the cold market and will build a large and lucrative business with all of your friends and family members.

Do You Want FREE MLM Leads?
Through the 29 years I've been involved in network marketing, I've purchased thousands of leads of all types. I've paid anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars for each lead. Honestly, I can't say that I've every sponsored many people from those leads. Yet, I know other network marketing leaders who have built massive businesses on purchased leads, so perhaps buying leads will work for you. But, wouldn't you rather get your leads for free. Better yet, wouldn't you like to get paid to generate your own free leads.
The truth be known, all the lead companies attract leads in the same way. They create a compelling information capture page, then they drive traffic to it. That becomes the lowest form of lead and the least expensive. However, some companies will interact with the lead to make sure they are truly a lead - that may be by e-mail or phone - interviewed leads are the highest quality and most expensive.
So, you could do the same thing as the lead company - create your own capture page, drive traffic to it, then interview the leads to find those who are serious. If you're an experienced internet marketer and web designer, you could do the work yourself. If not, then you'll need to pay someone to do it - probably a $1,000 or more. Then, if you know how to drive traffic, the right kind of traffic - people interested in network marketing, you can do that yourself. If not, you'll need to either learn how to do it or pay someone to do it - again, probably a $1,000 or more. Next, you can interview the people, which I know you can do, so no need to pay anyone for that part.
So, for a minimum of $2,000 your in the lead generation business. Another option is a funded business proposal. This is where you offer an information product that would attract people interested in network marketing. They pay for the product, providing you funding and then you interview them to see if they are a quality lead for your business. Here again, if you are an experienced copy writer, internet marketer, and web designer, you can do all the work yourself. If not, then you'll need to pay between $5,000 and $10,000 to put together the system.
The best option is to use an already established funded business proposal. There are several out there, but only one designed by top network marketers specifically for network marketers and that's my new system, The 2 Percent Plan. Now, you can generate your own free mlm leads and get paid to do it. Go to www.the2percentplan.com/plus to see the system in action. Order my dynamic new e-book and get the lead generation system for FREE. Use the simple step-by-step marketing system and in no time you'll have an endless supply of free leads, new people joining your network marketing business, and an extra income stream of hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. He who hesitates loses, so go to www.the2percentplan.com/plus today!

The 100% Principle in Network Marketing
Do you know that there is a 100% chance that someone you know is thinking about or wishing for more money or more free time. The unfortunate part is that you don't know who those people are, so you must sift for them. It's like the old card trick - there are 52 cards in a deck
(54 with the jokers and there are always a few jokers in the crowd, so you better leave them in) and 4 aces. The 4 aces represent your four front-line people, your gold nuggets! If you pulled up the first 10 cards without an ace, would you quit? Of course not, because you know that the 4 aces are there. In fact you could probably pull up 50 cards (including those 2 jokers) and still not quit!
4 aces out of 54 cards is about a 7.5% close ratio. Think of your recruiting efforts in the same way. You have a certain number of people in your circle of influence or warm market. Let's say it's 100 people. That means that there is 100% chance that 7.5 of those people are looking for what you have to offer with your company. You may be lucky and find that there are more than that, but at least you know that there are 7.5 out of every 100.
Start sifting through your warm market to find your 7.5 aces. Don't worry about the rest of the people who say NO. They aren't aces and all you're looking for are aces.

Leaders Are Found, Not Made
Some people have it and some don't. Unfortunately, a small percentage - probably under 5% have it. What is it? Leadership!
Every person who has been in network marketing for awhile knows what I'm talking about. You've seen that person who does his/her due diligence prior to joining you, then takes off like a rocket. They make up their list, they call you for help, they set up meetings and ask you to speak, they are at every group presentation and training. They are leaders. They will make or break your business.
If you have leaders in your business, you're business will grow on its own. They will find other leaders, who will find other leaders and so on. This is what makes a successful network.
So, how do you find leaders? They are pretty easy to recognize. Here are some characteristics to look for:
1. They are probably already a leader in the community, at their job, at church, or in sports.
2. They are successful at work.
3. They truly care about other people and show it.
4. They are active in their church. Not just Sunday attenders.
5. They go above and beyond the call of duty when necessary.
6. They are friendly and fun.
7. The have an extremely high level of integrity.
8. You can count on them to do what they say.
9. They lead by example.
10. They are organized, structured and goal oriented.
These are just a few characteristics that you can look for. Now, where can you find these people? Look for them at work, the PTA, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis, Boy Scouts, church, sports, non-profit organizations, clubs, etc. You will recognize them quickly, as they are the leaders in those organizations.
Your job is to show them how they can be a leader in your organization and help thousands of people improve their lives. If you do a good job of presenting your case, they will join and you're off to the races.

You Wouldn't Be Interested Would You?
There was once a desperate insurance sales manager who was trying to figure out how to get his agents to sell more. Finally he called them all into a meeting and told them to go out and say to people, "you wouldn't be interested in insurance would you?" Since this was so easy, the agents spoke to many more people and the sales skyrocketed.
If your network marketing volumes aren't where you want them, you could do the same thing. Why not go out and say to people, "You wouldn't be interested in making some extra money would you?" Imagine if you said this to everyone you met, what would happen to your recruiting numbers. What would happen if you taught this simple technique to your entire downline?
You wouldn't be interested in getting wealthy would you?

Facing Rejection
“No, I can't see myself doing something like that!” “This is one of those pyramid schemes!” “No one ever makes any money in these deals!” “You're a fool for spending your time, this is a scam!”
Sound familiar? These are all things I’ve heard during my time in network marketing. The critics are always there to reject you and try to steal your dreams. Don't let them. After all, will they be paying your mortgage or car payments? Are they going to send your kids through college? Will they be there to take care of you when you’re elderly? NO! So, don't worry about what they say, listen to your heart.
If you have done your due diligence and believe in your company, products, and upline, then you can never truly experience rejection. People who say “no” or make comments like those above are just misinformed, misdirected, misguided, have not received enough information, or are just not at the right time in their lives. They are not rejecting you, the company or products.
Here is some great ways to prepare you for the NO's:
1. Belief - you must gain a strong belief in your company, products, upline and most of all yourself. Attend all the trainings and business briefings you can find. Go to annual conventions and regional conferences. Get on the company e-mail and voice mail system. Listen to every company CD and watch every DVD. If possible, visit the corporate facilities and talk with the founder(s) of the company. Time, training and experience will build your belief system to the point where you are bullet proof.
2. Attitude - you have the gold mine and you're offering it to other people. If they don't want to dig, that's their loss. Just continue to offer it. Eventually you will find enough people to dig and you will enjoy financial security and time freedom.
4. Message and the messenger - you are just the messenger. You must continually remind prospects not to judge the opportunity (the message) by you or your success (the messenger). Your company and products are the message.
Help your prospects understand that they must review the information carefully and then make a good, educated decision.
NO's are necessary for success in network marketing. Each time someone says NO, find out why. That will help you to provide the right information at the right time. It will also help you understand that it has nothing to do with you.
The more rejection you can handle, the greater your success in network marketing.

4 Ways to Generate MLM Leads
If you are planning to be successful in network marketing, you're going to need a large supply of leads. Here are four simple ideas for generating your own leads:
1. Free Classified Ads - search the internet for "free classifieds" and you'll find thousands of sites where you can post free ads. Get enough of these out there consistently enough and you'll see a steady stream of leads.
2. Social Networking - MySpace and Facebook, are two of the top social networking sites. On these sites you build lists of friends, who as you build relationship, could become members of your network marketing downline. Put up a site and start making friends.
3. E-zine Marketing - If you can write a decent article, there are tons of e-zines looking for content. Write articles that are informational, but also drive traffic to your web site.
4. Funded Business Proposal - sell an information piece that would be of interest to network marketers. People who respond are already interested, so all you have to do is figure out how to get them interested in your network marketing program.

MLM: I Hate to Sell
Have you ever heard this from a prospect? Maybe you've even said it yourself. It's funny that I've been in professional selling for well over 30 years and I still hate to sell. Why do we all hate to sell so much?
I believe it has to do with our perceptions of selling. Most of us think of salespeople as pushy - selling people things they don't want or need. Who would feel good about doing that? Yet, sales is one of our most important occupations. Think of how difficult it would be for the surgeon to perform lifesaving surgery without instruments, pharmaceuticals, gowns, masks, and medical equipment.
Salespeople sold all of those things to the Dr., clinic or hospital.
Selling is nothing more that finding a need and filling it. You already know what needs your products/services fulfill, so your job is to ask questions and find people who have those needs.
Selling is sharing. If you believe in your products/services, you will want to tell everyone about them. You will share your success stories and those of other distributors and customers. No, not everyone is going to buy. Even though they need what you have, they may still say no. That's ok.
I would love to tell you that you can succeed in network marketing without selling. That the products sell themselves, but frankly my products have never jumped off the shelf and convinced a prospect of their value. You will need to sell people on the value of your products and opportunity. So, how do you learn to sell.
Well, actually we are all very natural salespeople. Think about the last time you really wanted to go to your favorite restaurant and your spouse or a friend wanted to go somewhere else. What did you do to convince him or her? You sold the benefits of the restaurant: the great environment, service and food, how much fun it would be, how excellent the food tastes, and so on.
There are many good books and tapes on selling. My favorite book is How to Master the Art of Selling by Tom Hopkins. Also, check your local paper for local seminars on selling. If you have a community college in your town, they may also have classes on sales that you can take in the evening.
The key to sales is to find a need, explain the benefits of the products and how they will help your prospect fill his or her need. If you have built some solid trust and have successfully shown the benefits, the prospect will probably buy. If he or she doesn't, find out why. If they are still misinformed, find printed information that will educate them and ask them to try your products again. If they still don't buy, keep good records and contact them periodically with new information. Don't hassle them, educate them.
Very soon you will have a good customer who will most likely turn into your best distributor.
Selling makes the world go round and makes your network marketing business grow.
NOTE: A great way to not have to sell is to have an endless supply of leads - people who are already sold on network marketing and are just looking for the right company. Take a look at www.the2percentplan.com/plus and you'll learn about an exciting new system that will enable you to generate that endless supply of leads and get paid to do it.

MLM: Dealing with Different People Differently
Have you ever had one of those presentations where you really hit it off with a prospect? It was like the two of you had known each other for twenty years. Then, in the same day you talk with a prospect and no matter what you say or do, you can't seem to make any progress.
Sound familiar? This is a common problem for network marketers. The reason for this is that every person has their own personality.
There are four distinct personalities, so if you are dealing with all people the same way, then you are only handling a quarter of the people correctly. No person is ever totally one personality. We are all mixtures, but you will discover that people operate primarily in one of the four types. Here are the four personality types you will encounter and the associated characteristics:
Analytical & Amiable:
Ask a lot of questions; speak softly; move slowly; very little eye contact; will lean back in chair; no hand gestures; patient; cooperative; calm.
Driver & Expressive:
Tells you things; speak loudly; fast movements; direct eye contact; lean toward you; animated hand gestures; impatient; competitive; excitable; enthusiastic; outwardly; positive.
As you meet prospects, try to determine their personality type. Take notes and compare them to the characteristics listed in this section. The more you study personalities and the better you understand how to recognize them, the better you will do in business and in life. Next, you will want to know how to best handle each personality type.
Analytical:
Let them feel they are right; give them facts first; stress the rational and logical facts; observe time constraints; compliment them regularly; give quick, precise answers.
Driver:
Dress professionally; get right to the point; do not waste time; stress results; ask questions that force attention; change voice inflection to maintain interest; put everything in writing; let them feel they are in control; give them choices.
Amiable:
Be friendly and build rapport quickly; talk emotionally; don't pressure them; take your time; reassure them regularly; allow them to include others in decisions; give them one positive choice; help them justify their decision.
Expressive:
Present the "big picture"; talk emotionally; recognize them as being important; put details in writing and explain carefully; reassure them regularly.
Recognizing the different personality types and being capable of working with them at their level will make prospecting more fun and you will recruit more people with less effort.
* I dedicate an entire chapter to this topic in my new book The Twelve Power Secrets for Network Marketing Success. You can order it by visiting my web site at http://www.rodnichols.com/ and clicking on the Store tab.

Breaking News: The 2 Percent Plan additions
Hi All,
Hopefully you have already purchased my new e-book, The 2 Percent Plan and are part of our free affiliate program. Several years ago I wondered why approximately 98% of the people who join a network marketing company never make a full-time income and why the other 2% make, on the whole, large incomes. This led me to a path of research and interviews that resulted in answers to both questions. I've included the results in The 2 Percent Plan. Although the information contained in this new e-book is simple and you may have even heard it before, non-the-less, it is the foundation for success in network marketing
The idea behind the free affiliate program is to eliminate the 2 inherent problems in network marketing: takes too long to begin earning residuals and a lack of solid leads. The 2 Percent Plan affiliate program gives you the right to re-sell the new e-book and earn $20 per sale. While marketing the book, you will attract people interested in network marketing, who will complete form on your capture page (supplied with the free marketing system). These are potential leads for your network marketing business.
We recognized that the most important part of this process is converting those leads into associates/distributors in your business and so we have been working on a phone script and follow-up e-mail, plus some other training that will help you convert your 2 Percent Plan leads into downline members in your network marketing business. These additions will be available in the back office training area within the next 2 weeks.
I also plan to offer regular free teleconferences for our affiliates teaching how to convert leads and build your network marketing business using The 2 Percent Plan. If you are already a big money earner in network mareting, you probably don't need this program, but people in your downline probably do. So, please spread the word.
If you aren't already earning a full-time income in network marketing, you definitely need this program. Go to our site at www.the2percentplan.com and order the e-book. For a one time investment of just $45 you get the power-packed e-book; complete marketing system with capture page; sales letter with e-commerce ordering system and instant delivery of the e-book; pre-programmed autoresponders; and a back office training and tracking sytem. 4 Steps to Network Marketing Success
Network marketing (MLM) is a very simple business. It's a wonder to me why everyone doesn't make big money. Here are the four steps necessary for you to be successful:
1. Learn your business - study the company materials. Learn the company story - who? what? when? why? where? how? Study the products/services and the competition. Get statistics on the industry. Research the other network marketing companies that you compete with and determine your strengths and weaknesses. Talk with other successful distributors about how they have built their business. Get on the company e-mail distribution list and voice mail system (if your company has one), so that you can stay current. Buy all the training programs, CD’s, DVD’s, manuals, brochures, books, etc., so that you can have a better understanding of everything about your business. Listen to CD’s on your business whenever you are in the car. Tune in to the company teleconferences or web conferences. Attend all company and distributor sponsored meetings.
2. Do the business - get started right away, even while you are doing the research for number 1. You will learn more about your business by doing it then you will by researching it. Get out there and start talking to people. When they ask you something you don't know, say, "that's a good question and I don't know the answer, but I'll find out and get back with you." Go get the answer and call them back. Start making phone calls, meeting with people in person, conducting your own opportunity meetings, do your own teleconferences or web conferences, and have regular trainings for you downline. Ask your sponsor or another qualified upline leader to help with 3-way calls and meetings. Develop a duplicatable system that works.
3. Teach the business - when you sponsor a new distributor, you are responsible to that person to help them get started and send them down the path toward success. Teach them partially through what you say and mostly by what you do. They will follow your lead. Show them how to prospect by doing it. Show them how to sponsor by doing it. Show them how to retail by doing it. Show them how to train by doing it. Provide them with the tools to be successful. During the first 30 days stay in touch daily. Offer to mail or e-mail information to prospects until they are up to speed. Suggest doing some 3-way calls and an in-home business briefing (which you will conduct, so they can see how to do a briefing). Encourage them to attend all the meetings, conferences, and conventions. Help them set goals and a plan to reach those goals. Keep your new distributors heading in the right direction.
4. Teach them to teach the business - when you uncover leaders who begin to develop their own downline team, teach them how to teach the business to their downline. Teach about the power of example. Give them tools they can use to teach their downline how to sponsor, retail and train.
That's it. It's just that simple. If you will follow these 4 steps, you will achieve huge success in network marketing.

How to Convert Leads in an MLM Funded Business System
The whole idea of a funded business system is to generate leads for your network marketing business. Each person who fills out the contact information on your capture page is a potential lead. In the following training, you will learn how to contact, qualify, and convert those people.
Those who complete your contact form will fall into three categories:
1. Looking for a network marketing business.
2. Already with a network marketing company, but not happy.
3. Already with a network marketing company and happy.
Categories 1 and 2 are great prospects for your network marketing company right now. Category 3 may take some time, but odds are that if you do a good job of relationship building, they will join you within a year.
Here are some methods of approaching these people and building relationships.
Phone:
When a person fills out the contact form on your capture page, you will receive it by e-mail. The information includes their name, e-mail address, and phone number. The best way to begin the lead conversion process is to call them.
When you call, introduce yourself, remind them of the site they visited, and find out if they are already in a network marketing company or not. If they are, find out if they’re completely happy. If they are looking for not happy with their current company, you’ve got a prospect for your network marketing business. Ask if you can provide information and then do a good job of following-up (see below).
Make sure that you take good notes during the phone calls, so that as you follow-up, you can show them how much you care, by remembering things about their lives. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care about them. Remembering details shows them that you are paying attention and care.
E-Mail:
If you are either not comfortable on the phone or you don’t have the time to do it, you can follow-up by e-mail, however you drop the odds of success quite a few percentages this way. E-mails have a way of disappearing or being filtered and it’s much easier to ignore an e-mail than a person on the phone. So, if you are serious about success in network marketing, you should work through the fear of the telephone or re-arrange your schedule so you have dedicated phone time for your business. However, if you’re not ready to do either of those, here are some ideas for creating an e-mail message.
First, keep the message short. Mention the site they visited and then ask if they are looking for a network marketing company or already with one. Don’t try to sell them on anything in this message. If they don’t respond, e-mail them again. I e-mail 3 times without response before I move on.
Follow-Up:
Ineffective follow-up is one of the primary reasons why people don’t succeed in network marketing. Quite often you will have a prospect who seems interested, so you provide them with some information, but they don’t return your calls or e-mails, so you assume that they aren’t interested. In most cases that is a bad assumption, because in most cases, when you speak with them, they’ll show a high level of interest. So, the key is effective follow-up.
You will have over a third of the people who fill out your contact form who will already be with a company, so this step is critical in bringing them into your company sometime in the near future.
You can purchase database software like ACT! or you can develop something in Excel or use the contact management portion of Outlook, or you can use a professionally designed system like Oprius. Which is my preference. Click HERE for information and a free trial.
However you do it is fine, but make sure you have an effective database in which you can store pertinent information about prospects and then easily find that information at a later date. It’s great if the system also reminds you to follow-up.
Once you have a database, the next step is to develop a series of e-mails that you either manually send or use an autoresponder service like Get Response. For information, click HERE. You’ll want to mix some phone calls in with the e-mails, with the purpose of building relationship. In your e-mails and calls you can recommend free (and paid) resources, social networks, articles, blogs, etc. This will help you show that you care about the person and not just getting them into your business (even though that is also your intention). People will join you because they trust and respect you. Also, because you can offer them a marketing system that will help them build a successful business.
If you do a good job with all of this, you’ll add new people to your network marketing business every month.

How to Prospect Without Joining the NFL (No Friends League)
One of the most common mistakes I see made in network marketing is what I call the “vomit approach”. A new network marketer learns about their company and products and then excitedly vomits that information on friends and family. This not only confuses the prospect, but the hype turns them off. Soon they are avoiding the new network marketer. The better approach is to ask questions and find pain areas. Then present the appropriate information. The results are always much better.
Unfortunately, most people like to talk more than listen. I believe that God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason - listen twice as much as you talk. To help you learn to ask more questions, I'm going to give you a simple acronym - F.O.R.M.
The "F" is for Family. Ask your prospect about his/her family. Talk about the kids. Discuss family goals. Ask if he/she has as much time with the family as they would like. Talk about vacations, their home, vehicles, college, etc. If they mention that they haven't had a vacation in a long time, that they work long hours and don't get to spend time with the family or that they don't know where the money will come from for college, then you've got a pain area.
The "O" is for Occupation. Ask about their job or business - how is it going? Any downsizing going on? Merger or buyout possibilities? Long-term viability of their job? Making as much money as they would like? If they show some doubt about their job or make comment about the lack of money or the amount of stress, then you've got a pain area.
The "R" is for Recreation. Ask about vacations, hobbies, golf, boating, bowling, etc. If your prospect complains about lack of vacation time at work, lack of money to take a vacation or lack of time to really enjoy any outside activities, then you've got a good pain area.
The "M" is for Money. Talk about the insecurity of the economy and social security. Ask what they are doing to prepare for future retirement. Ask about investments. Ask what they do with spare money each month. If they complain about not enough money or concern over their ability to retire some day, then you have a pain area.
F.O.R.M. makes it easy to remember, but you don't have to ask questions in order. You may find yourself flipping around. My suggestion, the first few times, is to write a series of questions and talk with people on the phone. That way you have a good start and if you get stuck, you can refer to the list.
By asking questions, you uncover needs and wants. Then you can go back to the prospect and say something like: “Mary, we were talking the other day and you mentioned (quickly review the pain areas) and I felt bad for you. I don’t know if you’d be interested or if this is even right for you, but I just might have a solution and shame on me if I don’t let you know about it. I’ve found a unique home based business that has great income potential, offers excellent tax benefits, and provides the opportunity for you to have more free time. In your case it could help with each of the areas you mentioned. Would you be interested in taking a look?” Most will say “yes” and then you can present your business as a solution to their issues. This will dramatically increase your close ratios and once they’ve joined, you’ll be able to help them build a business that will eliminate those pain areas.
The best thing about this approach is that you won’t alienate any of your friends or family members. They won’t see you as a salesperson and run away. Rather they will see you as someone who provided them a great solution to their struggles.

The Vulcan Mind Meld
Growing up, one of my favorite shows was the original Star Trek and my favorite character was Spock. He was logical and unemotional . . . like me (at the time). I loved it when he would place his hands on a person’s head and do the Vulcan mind meld. It was a combining of thoughts, experiences, knowledge, and memories. It was also a melding of two different cultures.
As I was contemplating this month’s theme: Old School versus New School, I immediately thought of the mind meld and realized that in order for us to be successful in network marketing we can’t be either old or new school, but a melding of both.
Back in 1979, when I joined the network marketing industry, we didn’t have computers, the internet, web sites, autoresponders, web conferences, e-mail, instant messaging, VOIP telephone, voice mail, cell phones, PDA’s, DVD’s, CD’s, or teleconferences. All we had was a pad, pen, and our personality. We met face-to-face, belly-to-belly and drew circles. We showed the plan, showed the plan, and showed the plan. It was a different culture than what we see today and yet it worked and continues to work.
In 1995 I started with a new company and decided to build on the internet. We developed a team image web site, offered a free book for those who were interested and would provide us with their contact information. We created the tag-team system of e-mailing, where a new prospect would receive 3 to 5 e-mails from our group, showing them a real team approach. We conducted weekly opportunity teleconferences for our network to use and did training conferences for our downline at least once a month. This was truly a “new school” business and it worked. We built a large international network that is still in place today and even though I’ve been semi-retired since 2001, it still generates a full-time residual income.
I learned a valuable lesson in that “new school” business – technology is great for sifting and sorting, but people still want to know that there is a live body behind all the technology. At first we were striving to build a completely self-contained system that would take a prospect from start to finish without human involvement. Although we built the system, it didn’t work.
We found the answer in John Naisbitt’s best seller, Megatrends. Although the book was published in 1988, it had great prophetic insight into the 21st century. Naisbitt spoke of the need for high touch with the high tech. Ah, the melding of two cultures. The old school mixed with the new school. As we began to apply this principle to our high tech system, it worked. We used the technology to sift through the lookers and find those who were serious. We engaged them in e-mail conversation and as trust was built, they would agree to a phone conversation. Once we reached that point, our average close ratio was over 75%. True high tech and high touch . . . new school and old school working together.
I love all the technology we have available to us in network marketing today. It makes building a business so much easier. However, I never want to forget that we are dealing with people and people need high touch. They want to hear our voice or see our face. They still like the personal interaction. The old school and new school must meld together into something better. Something more productive. Something that really works.

Get Paid to Prospect for Your MLM Biz
Over the last 29 years in network marketing, I’ve used just about every possible method of prospecting. I’ve worked my warm market, cold prospected, purchased leads, advertised in the newspaper, mailed letters to business people, passed out videos and audios, placed opportunity cards on car windows and handed them to people, posted flyers with tear off strips, and advertised on the internet, just to name a few. In every case, it cost me both time and money to prospect, but if it produced results, the investment was valid. However, recently I’ve discovered a way to have my cake and eat it too. I’ve found a system that pays me to prospect for my network marketing business. Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!!!
It’s called a funded business system – meaning that the system funds itself (and you). Here’s how it works. You create a book or e-book that every network marketer would want. If you have the idea, but not the writing abilities, e-mail me and I’ll write it for you. Next, you set up a web system that teases the reader about the book and offers a 5 to 10 day free training, which is delivered by autoresponder. In this training you give the reader some of the key ideas from your book and then sell them on the benefits of buying the book. Each e-mail should include an ordering link. The system will take the order with payment (by credit card or PayPal) and instantly deliver the e-book or promise delivery of the book.
Here’s the exciting part – each person who subscribes to the free training and purchases a book is someone interested in network marketing. They are typically in one of three places: (1) Looking for a company – in which case, you could present your network marketing business; (2) Already with a company, but not completely happy and would be open to looking at alternatives – in which case, you would present your business; (3) Already with a company and completely happy – in which case, you would keep them in a database and revisit every 4 to 6 months (as the average network marketer will change companies every 6 to 12 months until they hit it big or quit the industry). The book and autoresponder training will position you as an industry authority, which sets you apart from other network marketers.
All you have to do is get the word out about your book. You can advertise on the many free classified sites, post information in the various MLM forums, start your own blog, or write articles like this one and submit it to network marketing resource sites. Once you’ve put the system into action, it will produce for you – both leads and income, which you can then use to fund other sources of marketing for your business.
This almost seems too good to be true and if I hadn’t seen the results with my own eyes (and bank account), I’m not sure would believe. A funded business system is a great way to build a network marketing business and make some extra money on the site. It’s particularly good for the person who has just joined a company, as it typically takes a few weeks to a few months to start making money in a network marketing business. By using a funded business system, they can generate leads and a quick income, which just might be what they need to stay in business.
Now, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of developing your own funded business system – writing the book or e-book, developing the web system, writing all the autoresponder trainings, securing a merchant or PayPal business account, and then monitoring the system to make sure that it’s working – then you can use an already established system, such as The 2 Percent Plan (www.the2percentplan.com/plus). This system offers a power-packed e-book I’ve written and a powerful marketing system. You pay a one time fee for the e-book and get the marketing system and five amazing reports for FREE.
I started using some of the elements of a funded business system back in 1995 and they helped me build a large and lucrative international organization in a short amount of time. However, I was disappointed as there were still some missing pieces to the puzzle. Over the years, I’ve uncovered these pieces and have put them together to create The 2 Percent Plan.
So, whether you develop your own funded business system or utilize The 2 Percent Plan, your marketing life will change. Instead of paying for all those overpriced leads or advertising that may or may not produce, you can now get paid to prospect.

Explode your MLM Biz with Facebook
Facebook is another very popular social networking site that can be used to connect with people. On Facebook you can keep up with friends and family members, share photos and videos, reconnect with old high school or college classmates, discuss interests and hobbies, and plan parties and events.
Once you’ve registered, the next step is to create a profile. This is one of the keys to success, as this information is what people will use to find you. Make sure you include a great picture and lots of information about yourself, your interests, and who you are looking to connect with. You can also include other pictures (family, business, etc.), videos, articles, and links on your profile page. More information is better than less, but don’t use the profile page to pitch your program, rather provide valuable information that will help people.
The next step is to attract friends. Building a large network of friends and developing trust with those friends will enable you to promote The 2 Percent Plan to those interested in network marketing or making some money on the internet. The easiest way to attract friends is to join groups. Find groups of people interested in business, money, home business, network marketing, mlm, and so on. Get to know people, issue a “friend request” and off you go.
Facebook will allow you to set up your own groups. Search the groups, find a niche and set up your own group. This gives you even greater exposure.
You can also do a search for people with certain interests or classmates and send a friend request. This is more directed, but also more time consuming.
If you are a more advanced internet marketer, you can use RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to place your blog in your profile. You can also place this same RSS syndication code on other web sites (with their permission), so that all your content is updated at the same time. If you aren’t familiar with RSS, you can do a Google or Yahoo search and find plenty of explanations.
Social networking is a great way to get in touch with people, but the key is to build relationship and this takes time and dedication. Make sure that you respond to friend requests quickly and are issuing your own friend requests every week. As you build trust, you can introduce The 2 Percent Plan and show your friends how they can make some extra money every month. This also opens the door for your to introduce your network marketing program to those who are not already committed to a company.
Social networking takes time and commitment, so only do this if you are willing to give it the effort necessary for success.

Blog Your Way to Success in MLM
Blogging is one of the hottest new ways to create an internet presence and establish yourself as an authority. Wikipedia describes a blog as “a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order.”
Basically, you pick a topic, create the blog (more on this later), and then write your thoughts on that topic. If your blog is interesting and beneficial, people will visit and continue coming back to see what you have to say.
To set up a blog go to www.blogger.com. It’s simple to do.
Here are some keys to effective blogging:
1. Choose a catchy, yet professional sounding title for your blog.
2. Write informative and interesting articles.
3. Write a wide variety of articles on your topic – news, commentary, how-to, etc. The more of your topic area you cover, the more people will come searching for you as their source of information.
4. Use key words effectively in order to get better placement on search engines. When writing your title, it’s best if you use the most searched for keyword (in your topic) at the beginning of the title. Include other keywords throughout your text.
Here are some ideas for promoting your blog:
1. Blog Explosion (www.blogexplosion.com) – this is a blogging community where people can more easily find and read your blog and it’s free.
2. Blogger suggestions – you’ll find a bunch of suggestions on the blogger site by clicking HERE (link to: http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=42377)
3. Enter your blog on FeedBurner (www.feedburner.com).
4. Enter your blog on DMOZ (www.dmoz.org).
5. Create an RSS feed and submit your feed to the directories – if you’d like to learn more about RSS and how to use it, click HERE (link to: http://www.wizard-creek.com/rss/tutorial/rss-finding-feeds-with-directories.htm)
Blogging is a great way to create yourself as a topic authority, but it does take time and commitment to write new content every day. However, if you develop a solid blog and do a great job of promoting it, you’ll build up a consistently expanding following.

Breakthrough Network Marketing Secrets
Best selling author, Rod Nichols has uncovered the main reasons that 98% of network marketers fail. He has included these reasons and how to avoid them in his new e-book, The 2 Percent Plan. Nichols new book also includes some of the most closely guarded secrets for network marketing success. These are the simple, but powerful methods that top income earners in every network marketing company are using to create massive residual incomes.
One secret that Nichols reveals in his new book is how to ensure that everyone who joins a network marketing business makes money and is successful. Nichols suggests several ways to help people make money quicker, including a funded business proposal. This requires the sale of a related product, such as an e-book, audio, or video file, which then attracts people interested in network marketing or home-based business. These people purchase the e-book, which results in income, but many of them are also viable candidates for a network marketing business. This accomplishes two things for new network marketers. First, they make some quick money and second they have qualified leads to work with.
The 2 Percent Plan is offered through a new attraction marketing system by the same name. Nichols offers re-sale rights with one-time commissions, extensive internet marketing training, and list building capability in this free affiliate program.

Breaking News: Black Belt Recruiting to be Released
For many months the network marketing (MLM) community has been anxiously awaiting the release of Mike Dillard's Black Belt Recruiting. Well the time has finally arrived, as Dillard has announced a release date of July 22nd.
Here is what Dillard is saying about this exciting new program:
"Black Belt Recruiting is a 6-CD audio set, and a 40 page written supplement that, in my humble opinion, represents the best training in the world when it comes to recruiting new distributors. It’s a complete, A to Z program that will teach anyone exactly how Mark and I conquered our fear of the phone, to become the #1 and #2 distributors in our companies…
You’ll learn how we call our leads, what we say to them, how we handle objections, how we get prospects to sell themselves, how to get new reps started, and much more…
This course is perfect for anyone who has leads, but can’t seem to sponsor any of them, and it works so well, that it will come with an INSANE guarantee for your customers…
If they’re not sponsoring at least 10 new reps per month using what they learn in Black Belt Recruiting, they can send it back for a full refund at anytime over the next YEAR.
If you don’t get results, you don’t pay. It’s that simple."
To view a video introduction, that is well worth your time and to have the opportunity to be one of the first in the industry to own and use this dynamic training, click HERE.

Four Steps to Big Money in Network Marketing

The 12 Power Secrets for Network Marketing Success
My first book, Successful Network Marketing for the 21st Century was an industry best seller for several years and helped tens of thousands of network marketers build successful businesses. However, I always felt there was some key knowledge missing from that book and so, over the last three years, I’ve been working on a new book and I’m happy to announce that The Twelve Power Secrets for Network Marketing Success has been released through Unlimited Publishing. This is the best book I’ve written on network marketing, as it is packed with millions of dollars worth of ideas for building a large and lucrative network marketing business. In the following article, I’d like to give you a great overview of the book. The information in this article alone could help a fledgling or struggling network marketer turn their business into a money maker, so imagine what the book could do. Please enjoy the article, put the information to work and do as I have and build a lifetime stream of residual income, so that you can have both financial and time freedom.
Here are the twelve power secrets for network marketing success:
Power Secret One: Select the Right Company
During my nearly 30 years of network marketing, I’ve selected the wrong company a number of times. Not that the company was bad, although there were a few that were, but rather they weren’t a good fit for me. Even if a company is growing rapidly, has an amazing product, solid compensation plan, and great marketing materials, it doesn’t mean that it’s right for everyone. The questions you have to ask are: Does the company have the same values as mine? Are they marketing in a way that is suitable to my personality? Do they offer a product or service that I can get passionate about? Is the compensation plan suited to my abilities, time commitment, and talents? Once you answer these and other questions, you will have a better feel for whether a company is right for you and although selecting the right company doesn’t guarantee success, it does drastically increase the odds. The key is to do your due diligence and make a good selection.
Power Secret Two: Pick the Right Sponsor
One of the biggest mistakes I see made in network marketing is picking the wrong sponsor. Typically one of two things happens. Either a person gets sponsored by a friend, family member, or associate, who doesn’t know anything more about building a successful network marketing business than they do. The second option usually happens after a bad experience with the first option and so they begin researching to find a big hitter to sponsor them. The problem with being sponsored by a big hitter is that they don’t always have time to work closely with new people. After all they probably have thousands of people in their network, all needing some level of attention. The key here is to be sponsored by someone who is serious about building a big business and is willing to dedicate the time to help you succeed. It’s also important that your sponsor have similar values and be someone you would enjoy working with very closely. Again, picking the right sponsor doesn’t guarantee success, but it sure helps.
Power Secret Three: Develop Purpose, Goals, and Objectives
Over the years I’ve trained and coached tens of thousands of network marketers and have found that most don’t really know why they are in business. It’s critical to long-term success to have a solid “why” or purpose for being in business. It might be to have more time freedom to enjoy your family or to secure your financial future, so you can give your time to ministry or charity work. It might be to become the largest contributor to a charity or ministry. Whatever your purpose, it needs to be vibrant enough to keep you going during the tough times. Once you have a solid purpose, then you must determine what needs to happen in order to achieve that purpose – these are called goals and are the stepping stones or road signs along the way toward your purpose. Goals need to be written and reviewed daily. Often goals are too big to determine what to do on a daily basis, so you should break them down into manageable activities called objectives. Start each day by reviewing your purpose, goals, and objectives, then start working on the highest priority objectives and you will quickly reach your goals and achieve your purpose.
Power Secret Four: Right Attitudes and Beliefs
Many people fail in network marketing because they don’t have the right attitude. They treat their business like a hobby, working at it whenever time allows, rather than treating it like a business and scheduling regular time for business activities. I’ve also encountered many people in network marketing businesses, who show signs that they believe that what they are doing isn’t quite on the up and up, which makes it difficult for them to talk with people. It’s critical to success in network marketing to build belief in three areas: First, is believing in the network marketing industry (if you are struggling in this area, order my book The Ideal Business, by visiting my web site at www.RodNichols.com and clicking on Store). Second, is believing in your company and the products/services. Third, is believing in yourself as a network marketing business owner. If your belief is not strong in all three areas, success will elude you.
Power Secret Five: Treat it Like a Business, Not a Hobby
What does this mean? Most people who enter the network marketing industry have never run a business, so they don’t know what it means to treat it like a business. The keys are to first have the right attitude and second the right actions. Network marketing is one of the very few businesses that can be built while still employed at something else. The great part is that you keep your current income, while building another stream, which eventually will replace the first source. However, in order to do that, you must do the things that successful business people do. You must be consistent and persistent with your business and work on the most productive activities every day. Finally, you need to make a long-term commitment to your business. I have to laugh when someone says they’ll give it a try for six months or so. I’ve owned businesses, both network marketing and traditional, for many years and I’ve yet to find one that would produce a full-time income within six months, while building it on a part-time basis. Yes, some people earn big time income in network marketing within their first six months, but it’s because they put in a more than full-time effort or already had a massive circle of influence. For the average person, like me and probably you, it’s going to take some time and effort to build your business, but if you do it right for the next few years, you’ll never have to worry about money again.
Power Secret Six: Have a M.A.P.
If you were going to drive your car from Seattle, WA to Orlando, FL, would you just jump on the nearest highway and start driving, in hopes that some day soon you’d reach Orlando? No, that would be ludicrous and yet, that’s how most people build a network marketing business. It’s a journey and you need a M.A.P., which stands for Marketing Action Plan. This plan will guide you from where you are right now to where you want to go in life. It should include your purpose, goals, objectives, marketing strategies, and a daily plan to implement those strategies. That way, you are always on track toward your goals and purpose.
Power Secret Seven: Become a Master Prospector
If you were wandering through a field and stumbled across a goldmine, you would immediately buy the lot, purchase digging equipment, and begin to mine the gold. Well, you have stumbled across a goldmine and it’s in your network marketing business. The key is to prospect for the gold nuggets among your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, congregation members, people out on the internet, and people you meet out in public. There is a direct relationship between the quantity/quality of prospecting and the amount of money you make, so become a master prospector and watch your income sky rocket.
Power Secret Eight: Treat Different People Differently
If you are treating everyone exactly the same, then you’re missing the boat with 75% of them. There are four basic personalities and although we operate at times in all four, every person functions primarily in one of the four. By understanding the characteristics of each personality, you can better communicate and present to prospects, plus train and support those in your network. Understanding and recognizing the different personalities will increase your sponsoring and retention ratios.
Power Secret Nine: Become a Master Presenter
There is an old saying that says “facts tell and stories sell.” If you want to become a successful network marketer, you must become an excellent story teller. At first, you will tell the stories of successful people in your upline and later you’ll share your own success story. People love to hear stories and will better retain the information you’re presenting. Effective story telling is one part of becoming a master presenter and by becoming one, you will move yourself into the ranks of the top performers in your company.
Power Secret Ten: Become a Savvy Internet Marketer
The basis of network marketing is building networks of people who buy and sell products/services. What better place to build a network of people than on a natural worldwide network called the internet? According to Internet World Stats, which you can view at www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm, as of 2006 there were a little over one billion people on the internet worldwide and that’s up from 101 million in 1998. As you can see, the internet is growing rapidly and is the place to build a network marketing business. However, it’s easy to get lost or overwhelmed on and by the internet, so the key is to learn how to be a savvy internet network marketer. First, you want to have an effective lead capturing web site with autoresponders that follow-up on your prospects. Second, you’ll need an effective database or contact management system that helps you remember to follow-up personally with qualified prospects. Third, you want to have an excellent online presentation system including web site based presentations in flash or video and live webinars. Fourth, you’ll need to have a pass-coded training web site that takes your new associates through some basic training. From there you’ll want to learn about funded business proposals (check out my new funded business proposal system www.the2percentplan.com/plus), pay-per-click advertising, and social marketing. Becoming a savvy internet marketer will add a number of effective business building weapons to your arsenal and help you build a large and lucrative business.
Power Secret Eleven: Develop Leaders
When I joined the industry in 1979, I was taught that if a person could fog a mirror I should attempt to sponsor them. Well, it’s one thing to sponsor a bunch of people and it’s something completely different to develop leaders. Leaders will duplicate, causing expansion of your network without any effort on your part. Leaders will attract other leaders and potential leaders, so learn how to identify and sponsor leaders, plus how to train and develop them. Once you’ve developed several organizations that have at least one leader, you will have a solid base for building a long-term walk-away residual income.
Power Secret Twelve: The Ultimate Power Secret
This is actually the most important of the power secrets. You can effectively use the other eleven and without the ultimate power secret you will still only enjoy marginal results. This is the difference between a double A battery and 220volts of electricity. In fact, the ultimate secret is the real power behind every success. Think about your computer. You could have the latest, greatest, and most powerful computer made by man, but if you don’t plug it into the wall and power it up, the computer is useless. Once you plug into the ultimate power source, amazing things will begin to happen – leaders will be attracted to you and your business, your marketing campaigns produce better results, and you suddenly know exactly what to say to a prospect. This is the culmination of all the power secrets for network marketing success.
Now, it's very possible that you read these 12 power secrets and thought, this is nothing new. My question to you is, "have you done these things?" There is a myth that knowledge is power. The truth is that knowledge put into correct action is power. These 12 secrets are what turned me from a miserable failure to a successful network marketer. They are the secrets of the top income earners, so if you aren't a top income earner, it's time to stop looking for the magic bullet and put these power secrets to work in your business.
Everything you need for massive network marketing success is contained in these twelve power secrets. However, failure or success is truly in your hands and is dependent on what you do with this knowledge. Obviously, I couldn’t include all of the information in each power secret or this would have been a very, very long article, so if you’re serious about building a large and lucrative network marketing business, you might want to pick up a copy of my new book by visiting www.RodNichols.com (store). However, even with all the information, it’s still up to you. Success is in the action, so the question is whether you are ready for success or not? If you are, then put this knowledge into action and in a few months to a few years you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labor – financial and time freedom.

The Five Failure Factors in Network Marketing
In my nearly three decades of network marketing experience, I've noticed that there are five primary reasons that people fail in network marketing. I call these the five failure factors:
1. Takes too long to make money – although there are a few that pay daily, most network marketing companies pay residuals either monthly or weekly. The average new network marketer takes sixty days or longer to sponsor their first person. During those first sixty days, they have paid the costs to join, bought products or activated a service, purchased marketing materials, and possibly paid to be part of an advertising co-operative or purchased leads. They have also made their list of 100 or 200 warm market prospects and are tentatively blundering through those, experiencing a great deal of rejection. All this and they haven’t made a penny in the business.
Now, I recognize that some programs offer the opportunity to retail products or services and make some money. Some people will do this. However, most people hate sales and will not be comfortable trying to sell products or services to their family and friends, so this is also not a viable avenue for making quick money.
The key is to have something that can be sold automatically through the internet – the best is an information product (i.e. e-book, training program, etc.). This product must have huge value and be appealing to people involved in network marketing. By offering this product, you accomplish several things. First, it’s a low ticket item compared to joining most network marketing companies, which will increase the number of people who buy. Second, it attracts exactly the people you want for your network marketing business. So, give some thought to writing an e-book or training program or using one that has already been written. Make sure it appeals to those interested in network marketing and has solid value.
2. Run out of warm market prospects – Social scientists say that we know 2,000 people and all we have to do is remember them and we’ve got a great base of prospects for our business. The problem with this is that there are very few of those people who are actually open to your business. Yes, they could all benefit from your product or service and from the financial and time freedom that can result from network marketing, but they still won’t join your company or mine or anyone else’s. So, that new associate is going to join your company and begin working through his/her warm market, getting “NO” after “NO” until they begin to doubt that it’s going to work for them. At that point, they are encouraged to purchase leads, which they have to call using a phone script. Most people would rather jump out of an airplane without out a chute than make cold calls to people they don’t know, so this typically doesn’t work and within 60 days or so, they quit returning your calls and e-mails and disappear into the network marketing twilight zone.
Selling in information product via the internet, will also eliminate this failure factor, as your internet-based system will be attracting quality leads 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and sending them right to your e-mail box. All you have to do is call and find out if they are looking for a network marketing; already with a company, but not happy; or with a company and happy. The first two categories are leads and you should introduce your company and your lead generation system that enables you to get paid to prospect. These people are already sold on network marketing, so all you have to do is present yourself, your business, and marketing system in such a way that they can see themselves doing it.
3. Afraid to approach people – Network marketing is an entrepreneurial type business that attracts primarily people who are not entrepreneurs. The problem with this is that most of the people who join your business or any other network marketing business are going to afraid to approach people. They don’t know what to say, are afraid that someone will ask a question they can’t answer, are concerned about what other people are going to think (particularly friends and family), and are afraid someone is going to get upset with them. Fear probably destroys more dreams than anything else in life and it is very active in network marketing. Fear can very quickly drive your very excited new associate out of the business in just a matter of days or weeks.
An internet-based marketing system is perfect, because you only talk with qualified people. This reduces the amount of rejection and increases the number of people joining your network. Plus, if you are using a system that works, you’ll never run out of quality leads.
4. Don’t know how to build on the internet – As you have probably recognized, internet marketing is the wave of the future. Everyone is talking about “social networking”, “You Tube presentations”, and funded business proposals. There are so many great opportunities for marketing on the internet and lot’s of training programs that will “teach you how to make millions on the internet.” The problem is that most of the people who join your business will not have a clue about how to build on the internet. So, the key is to find a simple, easy to understand program for marketing on the internet, that won’t distract them from their network marketing business.
This is a tough one, because the internet gets more complicated every day. So, you can either bite the bullet and pay thousands of dollars to learn how to develop an internet marketing system, hire someone and pay them thousands of dollars to design one or use an already proven system (see below). No matter how you do it, make sure you’ve got an internet marketing system working for you every day.
5. Aren’t trained properly – Some network marketing companies and upline teams do a great job of training, however this is more of a rarity than the norm. Unfortunately, most people who join network marketing companies are never trained properly and so they fail. It’s not their fault. The key to training is to have someone who has been there, done that, and made a lot of money do the training. However, usually that type of person in your upline is either too busy with his/her own huge downline or they are off enjoying the free time that results from a big residual income. Either way, people aren’t being trained. So, what is needed is a system, developed by a successful network marketer that will help you train your downline and give them something that will enable them to train their downline.
Check with your upline leaders to see what training is available and then devote time and resources to gaining the best training possible. The more you know, the better you will do (as long as you put that knowledge into action). Keep in mind that this is a business of duplication, so find trainings that teach methods that fit your personality and budget.
Now, that you know the five failure factors and what to do about them. The question is what are you going to do about it? Your answer and following actions will dictate your level of success in network marketing. If you’re going to be the leader of a large network, you’ll need to either find or develop a system that will eliminate or at least minimize the five failure factors. It will need to help new associates make money quickly – their first week or two in business. It will need to be a lead generation system, so they never run out of prospects. It will need to be something where they don’t have to make a lot of direct contacts with cold prospects, so as to reduce the feeling of rejection. It will need to be a simple, easy to use internet system that works for them 24/7. It will need to include simple to follow training that can get them started quickly. Finally, it can’t compete for their time with the network marketing business you and they are working.
Be assured that if you develop just such a system, it will help many of your downline go on to create full-time incomes in network marketing and reduce the failure rate in your network. If developed and implemented properly, a system like this will also dramatically increase your network marketing income. So, get to work and develop a system that will eliminate that five failure factors.
NOTE: Years ago, I spent a great deal of time and money developing such systems and they helped me build a large and lucrative international network. If you don’t want to spend the time or money, there is an excellent option. It’s called The 2 Percent Plan and is a synthesis of systems I developed in the past with the hottest new concepts available today. This program, if used properly, eliminates all five of the failure factors. If you’re interested in learning more, visit www.the2percentplan.com/plus.
